SRK’s preemptive move to get Raees released, visits Raj Thackeray and ensures no more films with Pak artistes

Taking cue from other Bollywood actors and directors, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan went to meet Raj Thackeray, the chief of Maharashtra Navanirman Sena(MNS) at his residence. The reason being the need to ensure smooth release for his film Raees, which features an artist from Pakistan, Mahira Khan. He even accepted the leaders who reaps the political benefits by fanning parochial sentiments of the public, patriotism being the first. Shah Rukh Khan has promised that he won't be associating with Pak artistes any more. It seems that the leader is happy with the obsequiousness shown by the actor. MNS said Raees would not face any problem in Maharashtra.

"Raees", which features Pak actress Mahira Khan, is scheduled for a release next month, party sources said.

In a meeting that lasted for almost an hour, SRK promised Raj that neither will he bring down Mahira to India for promoting Raees and nor will he work with any Pakistani actors in future.

There was news in the media for past one week that SRK is going to get Mahira Khan to India for film promotions. So he came here to meet Raj saheb to tell that Mahira Khan is not coming to India for any kind of film promotion and he will also not cast any Pakistani artistes in future
Amey Khopkar, MNS leader

Amey confirmed to the media that MNS won’t oppose the release of Raees. “In the meeting between Raj Saheb and the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Producers’ Guild that took place in October, it was decided all the films that have already been shot that has Pakistani actors in it will be allowed to release and going forward no Indian producer, director or actor will work with Pakistani artistes. SRK too agreed to the same in his meeting with Raj Saheb.”

Notably, the MNS has in the past objected to casting of Pakistani actors in Bollywood movies citing the neighbouring country's involvement in terrorist attacks in India.

Earlier in October, the MNS had staged high-voltage protests against the release of filmmaker Karan Johar's "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" for featuring Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan had previously run into trouble for the release of "My Name is Khan" in 2010, with another right wing party, Shiv Sena, opposing its screening then.

Raees will smoothly hit the screens with Pakistani actress, Mahira Khan on 26 January 2017. Raees is an Indian action crime thriller film directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Gauri Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their banners Red Chillies Entertainment and Excel Entertainment.
