A pleasant news was to hit on Tuesday morning of baby boy born to the Bollywood pair, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The Twitter went frenzy soon after the media broke the news out. Messages with the hashtag #TaimurAliKhan started to inundate the social media platform and has slowly turned the name Taimur a 'trending'.
Slowly, the new born has become a 'STAR' like his parents in the country soon after his birth.
The news of the kid's birth was first shared to the world by Bollywood director Karan Johar and in a tweet he said;
My Bebo had a baby boy!!! Am so so happy!!!!!!! #Taimur AliKhanKaran Johar
The intial moments were of happy and merriment with many congratulating the couple. The soon it had changed the trend with many questioning the integrity of the parents in naming their first child the name of a Turko-Mongol ruler, Timur, who had trounced the Tughluq dynasty and wreaked havoc to Delhi Sultanate.
With the mention of Timur, the Twitter lost its cool and was flooded with as many hate messages questioning the integrity of the couple in naming their kid a name of the most bloodiest, cruel invader of India.
The king Timur, historically known as Tamerlane, was an invader and the founder of Timurid Empire in Persia and Central Asia. He was also the first ruler in the Timurid dynasty. The founder of the Mughal dynasty, Babur, has derived his lineage from Timur.
The many years after his death, his body was exhumed and a further examination by a Soviet anthropologist had confirmed that the leader was lame and had a withered right arm due to his injuries. He in the annals is also known as Timur-e-Lang, which means 'Timur the Lame'.
But that bash on the couple denouncing them for the naming the kid Timur has went exceeding the limit and many have shown their rather hatred-self referring Saif a 'Jihadi', Kareen a numb. Some even wanted the kid to have 'cancer' or the deadly 'Zika'.
However, many rallied behind the couple supporting them saying that the controversy was only to make a division in the secular fabric of India and gaining petty popularity.
Sagarika Ghose, journalist and write, in her tweet said
Taimur or Taimoor in Arabic has the meaning "iron" with the lucky number 8.
And, quoting Shakespeare;
“What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.”
