Ketan Mehta sends legal notice to Kangana for ‘hijacking’ his project, asks her to stop ‘Manikarnika’

Actress Kangana Ranaut is no new in courting controversies and in a latest, filmmaker Ketan Mehta has sent a legal notice to the actress for "hijacking" one of his ambitious film projects, Rani of Jhansi: The Warrior Queen, reported Hindustan Time.

This was come few days after film writer-editor Apurva Asrani accused her of taking the “screenplay and dialogues’ credit” for Hansal Mehta’s Simran.

Ketan Mehta told the newspaper that since 2015, he was in contact with the actress for the project. He has shared her with research material and several drafts of the script with her actress. He said that through the legal notice he had asked the film Manikarnika to stop as he already planned to go ahead with his project.

The director has been working on the project for the last 10 years.

He also said that he learnt of Krish’s Manikarnika only through newspapers and that he was shocked to see Kangana announcing Rani of Jhansi with another producer and director. Kangana being privy to all the documents and research material along with the script, has knowingly hijacked the project in collusion with producer Kamal Jain, he said.

Ketan is the maker of internationally acclaimed films like Mirch Masala, Sardar (on the life of Sardar Patel), Maya Memsaab, and Manjhi- The Mountain Man.

Ketan said that he had confirmation that Kangana has received the notice but has not heard from her or the producers.

Meanwhile, the repeated attempts to get a version of Kangana of the story turned futile, the paper said.
