Reliance Jio offers lifetime free voice calls to its subscribers. TRAI claimed that JIO did not break any guidelines and sanctioned the offer though the free data offer is valid only till the end of 2016.
Telecom operators, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and others approached TRAI on sanctioning free call service complaining the tariff plan to be predatory, discriminatory and non-compliant to present rules. According to the existing rules, Telecom operators are required to pay 14 paise per minute for each outgoing call from their network to the operator on whose network the user is calling.
Mukesh Ambani, last month with the arrival of Jio to the telecom world promised a welcoming unlimited free voice calls offer to all its subscribers.
