Many Indians thought that the escalated anger between the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Australian Steve Smith would cool down after India made an envious series win. However, hope of such a thaw between the two is never possible with Virat, during the press meet after the series win, said that he can't be no longer friends with Australians after the manner in which they went after him during the series.

This is an issue that could well be kept on simmer till the main characters of the plot face off again for the Indian Premier League (IPL), beginning from April 5.

Asked after the end of the Dharamsala Test if he still considered Steve Smith's men his friends off the field as he had said at the start of the series, Kohli gave a very definite answer.

No, it has changed for sure. I thought that was the case but it has changed for sure. As I said in the heat of the battle, you want to be competitive but yeah I have been proven wrong. The thing I said before the first Test, I have certainly been proven wrong and you won’t hear me say that ever again.

Kohli has often said he was not bothered by what the Australian players or media had said about him, but it seems he was more affected than he would like to admit.
