Wondering what is the best figure in the universe? CBSE has found it to 36-24-36 for female body!

School teaching lays down the basic foundation of an individual building and usually lessons learnt at school are for a lifetime because of which school syllabus should be formulated with care and precision. But this time CBSE text book seems a little less knowledgeable.

One viral page of a text book of CBSE, is taking rounds in social media which not only degrades the educational quality but also makes people wonder what are their in these text books. The CBSE class 12th physical education instead of describing the ‘physical and anatomical differences between male and female’, highlights what should be a ‘best’ shape of a female body. The CBSE textbook mentions bizarre body measurements and claims, ” 36, 24, 36, shapes of female is considered best.”

And to justify such admonishing claims it goes on to say, “Thai is why in Miss World or Miss Universe competitions such type of shape is also taken into consideration.”

“Thai is why in Miss World or Miss Universe competitions such type of shape is also taken into consideration.,” justifies the syllabus.

The book published by New Saraswati House, is taught to CBSE students of Class 12 though it hasn’t been brought out by the NCERT. The book is titled, the Health and Physical Education Textbook by Dr VK Sharma.

However the contents of the book have created enough stir among people.

Though exercise makes the body fit, the book teaches that “Exercise makes figure beautiful”. Apart from this the book also propagates that the “36-24-36 figure does not come up by chance.” Advocating that the so-called perfect body shape can be attained “through regular and various types of exercise.”

The contents created an uproar in social media:

The users ever took note of the V-shaped body of men.

The author of the book seems to be a sexist who believes that women cannot be good athletes. “The vertebrae in females is usually long but in it, comparison upper and lower limbs (hands and legs) are smaller, whereas, the vertebra, hands and legs of males are longer in comparison to females. The bones of hips of females are wider. Knees are slightly apart. Due to this shape females are not able to run properly.”

This is not the first time the contents of a text book are being questioned. Earlier a book claimed that a woman’s ‘ugliness’ could be the reason for dowry while another science book as an experiment, encouraged students to kill a cat!
