‘I would hesitate to touch Aishwarya’s cheeks’ was a misinterpreted radio interview clarifies Ranbir Kapoor

Amidst a lot of hustle bustle, Ae dil Hai Mushkil hit the theatres on 28 October, 2016. Uri attack created the brawl between MNS and film-makers, alleging the ban of Pakistani actor Fawad Actor starring movie. As the movie was screened in all release outlets, fresh controversy surround Ranbir Kapoor who share the screen with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma.

In a radio interview with a channel, Kapoor said he was really nervous while filming a steamy scene with Bachchan and his hands would shiver every time he touched her cheeks. Apparently, Ash broke the ice and said that they were actors also adding they need to perform as expected.

Sharam aati thi, mere haath shiver hote the. Kabhi kabhi main unke gaal ko touch karne mein jijhakta tha. (I would feel shy and my hands would shiver. I would hesitate to touch her cheeks) Phir unhone bola 'Listen what's wrong with you? We're acting, do it properly.' Phir maine socha, kabhi aisa mauka milega nahi, so maine bhi mauke pe chauka maar diya. (I thought I'll never get this chance again, so I took it)

Few eyebrows were raised on the comment Ranbir made on former Miss World. Close sources to the Bachchans say that even the family is also triggered by such offending comment.

"There are four very professional actors in the Bachchan family, and they know what professionalism is all about. There's absolutely no objection to whatever the scenes contained in the film. But why is Ranbir making these embarrassing comments about hitting 'mauke pe chauka?'" said the family source to the Asian Age.

Ranbir Kapoor is hurt as to how such a contextually candid conversation was bend and blown out to be sensationalised, to make it a major news headline.

The actor said that his comments “in a radio interview were taken in a bad taste”.

“Aishwarya is such a superb actor and also a family friend. She’s one of India’s most talented and respected women. I will be forever grateful to her for her contribution to ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. I could not have disrespected her like that!” the 34-year-old actor said.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has opened at the Indian box office on a positive tone. It has bagged Rs. 26.4 crore in just two days of its release from the release centres.
