Mohanlal’s latest Malayalam movie, Pulimurugan is still running house full in all theatres after 24 days of release breaking all box office records. Taking into account the superstars, simultaneously, the duo, Mohanlal and Mammootty have their own respective records in Mollywood. Mammotty is the Malayalam actor who received four times the National Award for Best Actor along with being the one who has played the same role many times in a movie series.
Mammootty played the role of a CBI officer Sedhurama Iyer under the directorship of K. Madhu in Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, Jagratha, Sethurama Iyer CBI, Nerariyan CBI. Now even Mohanlal has owned the same record which was once exclusive to only Mammootty. Mohanlal is gearing up to become military officer Mahadevan for the fourth time.
Major Ravi’s debut movie Keerthi Chakra showcased Mohanlal as Major Mahadevan and later in Kurukshetra as Colonel Mahadevan and in the plane hijacking themed Kandahar Mohanlal came up with his Major role again. Through Major Ravi’s ‘1971 Beyond Borders’ , Mohanlal will also be eligible to own the record exclusive to Mammootty to present the same role four times.
Earlier, Mohanlal hit the screens as Dasan in Nadodikkattu, Akkare Akkare Akkare, Pattanapravesham and Sreenivasan took the role of Vijayan thrice in the same series.
Mammootty took the role of Perumal in movies August 1 and August 15. Dr. Sunny of Manichitrathazhu was second seen on screens in Geethaanjali (2013). Mangalassery Neelakandan was carried by Mohanlal in Devasuram and Raavanaprabhu. It is rumoured that the fifth movie of the CBI series by K.Madhu will be coming next year.
If the movie will be released, Mammootty will be the star who would be carrying the same character for the most number of times.
