Zaira Wasim, the youngest star of the Dangal team rammed into controversy after she had a meeting with the Jammu and kashmir CM, Mehbooba Mufti, which might have forced her to publish an open apology though not mentioning why she is sorry but indirectly indicating that “I know many people have been offended and displeased by my recent actions or people I have recently met…”
After she grabbed the headlines, she was trending on Twitter; tweeps from all over India coming in support of the young actress along with Bollywood celebrities. Surprisingly Aamir Khan, the co-star of Zaira wasim, did not respond till it was time for him to let out his feelings to the open apology.
Among the other celebrities who voiced in support of the young star, Anupam Kher, a Kashmiri himself, who talks for the rights of the Kashmiris, said how her open apology which reflected the cowardice of the people who forced her to write it, was full of courage.
Zaira was upset that her apology was turned out to be a national and took to Twitter to express her grief which she later deleted.
Former CM of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah wrote, "A 16-year-old shouldn't be forced to apologise and that too allegedly for meeting Mehbooba Mufti. What are we coming to." Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "Zaira is indeed a good actress. It is wrong to force her to apologise on Facebook for meeting Mehbooba Mufti."
Released on 23 December, Dangal is Zaira Wasim’s debutant movie, which has bagged more than Rs 370 crores. She has also been cast in Secret Superstar, to be produced by Aamir Khan, who also has a special appearance in it.
