Actor Vinod Khanna, who passed away at age 70 today, was a follower of Osho. The actor quit his career in June 1978 to pursue spirituality.
Though his decision to quit what he liked to do the most surprised his family members and his fans alike, he was very clear about his decision and his life after that proved it right.
He left for Pune to visit Osho's ashram very often. He later turned out to be an ardent follower of Osho as he gardened inside ashram and even cleaned toilets there.
In an interview with Simi Garewal, he spoke about how spirituality changed his life.
My mind made me do that. My mind was hyper, my thoughts were all over the place. I was very angry as I had reached a saturation point. People can press your buttons and make you react... but it’s not under your control. When I would meditate, I realised I could master my mind. These things drove me to say -- I’ve given enough films, I have given enough time, made enough money... now I need to give myself completely to meditation and be with my guru. In the famous interview titled "Rendezvous", he also said that he never did anything in his life without giving his 100 percentage to it.
"You've to give yourself in totality to something... that's your inner voice telling you. My family was unhappy about it as it was an extremely self-indulgent thing to do but one must realise, you come alone, you go alone. You have to travel your own path," he said.
