xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Deepika Padukone’s Hollywood debut has emerged as the world’s highest-grossing film of 2017.

The action sequel has collected $310 million so far. This will amount to Rs 2075 crore when converted to rupees.

Box Office Mojo said that the movie has broken all the record in China, where its total stands at $137 million after just two weeks of release.

While the flick collected $44 million in North America since it released in mid-January, the movie netted a collection of Rs 54 crore in India. According to reports, 91% of it came in its opening weekend in India.

The reports also said that the North American collection was underwhelming as its total collection amounts to only 14% of the worldwide total.

Fifty Shades Darker is at the number 2 with $284 million. The second installment in the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy has however set several other records.

Jackie Chan’s Kung Fu Yoga ($246 million) is at the third position which has made almost 99% of its money in China.

Earlier, the movie had triggered a fresh controversy in India after the censor board cut several scenes from the movie including ‘visuals of a girl pouring liquor’.
