In yet another incident of police hooliganism, a bar owner of Karnataka’s Belgaum was allegedly thrashed by a policeman for not providing liquor on 13 March declared a dry day by the state to prevent ‘unruly behaviour’ on Holi.

The incident was captured in the CCTV cameras of the bar in which a policeman is seen assaulting the owner and a worker in a brutal manner.

The bar’s owner Shivraj says, the shop was shut on Holi when the three policemen entered through a window and demanded cartons of expensive imported liquor. When the staff refused, the policemen allegedly thrashed them. One of the bar workers, Ajit Halingale, reportedly fainted because of the beating.

“When he came to his senses, he was beaten again and dragged to the police station where a case was registered against him,” Shivraj was quoted by the Hindustan Times. He said the policemen took not only cartons of alcohol before they left but also looted cash from the register.
