Al Kaushar, an Indian cargo ship was hijacked en route to Yemen’s Al Mukala port from Dubai with 11 members onboard on Saturday evening, 1 April, 2017. Reports surface that armed Somali pirates are responsible for the hijack.

As the hijack took place, the captain of the ship informed the Naval authorities stationed at Dubai who in turn notified the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. The 11 members of the crew belong to Mandavi in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
