Al Kaushar, an Indian cargo ship was hijacked en route to Yemen’s Al Mukala port from Dubai with 11 members onboard on Saturday evening, 1 April, 2017. Reports surface that armed Somali pirates are responsible for the hijack.
As the hijack took place, the captain of the ship informed the Naval authorities stationed at Dubai who in turn notified the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. The 11 members of the crew belong to Mandavi in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Action will soon be taken by the Indian authorities to rescue the Indian crew members onboard the ship, Times Now reported. Pirate hijack of cargo ships is a big mess and quite difficult to track when the ships are ransacked in international waters.
