Delhi police drags, detains missing JNU students’s mother; cops create havoc in city as students protest

Mother of the missing JNU student Najeeb Ahmed was detained by Delhi Police on Sunday, along with several others, who were protesting at India Gate against the institutional inaction in tracing the disappeared postgraduate student, who has been missing for the last 22 days.

Restrictions under section 44 were also imposed around India Gate.

People who were involved in the brawl with Najeeb were questioned by the police yesterday, 22 days after he went missing. That was also a formality. We have apprised the President of the matter. He has assured us that he will seek a report from the Delhi Police and JNU in this regard

Meanwhile, JNU students were not allowed to protest at the India Gate memorial in the heart of the capital. Police blocked all roads leading India Gate, creating inconvenience to public, and made an atmosphere of frenzy in the capital city.

Delhi police has formed a Special Investigation Team to probe into the matter. However, the students allege that cops have been doing near to nothing for tracing Najeeb.
