A delegation led by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and gave him a memorandum on farmers issues. Rahul met the Prime Minister along with other senior party leaders.
The Uttar Pradesh and Punjab units of the Congress had collected more than 2.5 crore application forms for loan waiver in the past three months during the Gandhi's farmer outreach programme.
This is the first meeting of Congress vice-president with Modi on any issue.
After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi told media that PM has agreed that the situation was grave for farmers. However, he did not said anything on the loan waiver issue.
The opposition leaders are also schedule to meet president Pranab Mukherjee at 12.30 in the noon on Friday.
