At least 10 people have been injured after eight coaches of the Meerut-Lucknow Rajya Rani Express derailed on Saturday morning.
The incident took place near a bridge over the Koshi river between Rampur and Mundapanda, Uttar Pradesh.
Some of the injured passengers have been admitted to the nearby district hospital, reports ANI.
The reason for the derailment is unknown and more details are awaited.
Inadequate maintenance and poor infrastructure are believed to be the reason of the accident.
The country has witnessed to several of this kind in recent months, including Indore-Patna Express train derailment in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh in which 142 people were killed and more than 200 injured.
In January, 32 had died in a rail accident in Vizianagaram.
