Investigation has begun against a village Panchayat in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh for fixing marriage of a five-year-old girl with an eight-year-old boy.
The incident took place in Tarpur village of the district.
Villagers decided to fix the marriage between the children as they felt that nothing ‘auspicious had happened in the village’ since the girl’s father, Jagdish Banjara, killed a calf three years back.
Reports said a team of investigation officers has been sent to the village.
Guna ADM Nizam Khan said that action will be taken against the culprits. "We are sending a probe team to this village, strict action will be taken against the culprits," Khan said.
Banjara killed a cow three years ago, when it was feeding in his field following which he was socially boycotted in the village.
The villagers decided to fix the marriage between the minors as nothing auspicious took place in the village, even after he took bath in Ganges and distributed food in the region.
The girl's mother has earlier filed a complaint against the decision. However, the Panchayat neglected it and went ahead with the decision.
