Censor Board finally ‘cuts’ child of controversy Pahlaj Nihalani, lyricist Prasoon Joshi to take charge

Child of controversy Central Board of Film Certification chief Pahlaj Nihalani has been sacked on Friday. Reports said he was fired due to the kind of censorship he made, which was widely objected by both the film makers and viewers.

Lyricist and poet Prasoon Joshi will replace Nihalani.

Joshi, who shot into fame by his songs in the movies like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Taare Zameen Par, has won the national award two times. He is 43-year-old.

Earlier there were reports that he might be sacked soon as he put the board in crisis by making constant controversies.

Ever since Nihalani was appointed as the chief of 23 members board, he has been embroiled in various controversies.

He had once made it clear that PM Modi was his “action hero.

Reports said he was made the chief of the board as per directives from Nagpur.

Last month Nihalani had said that superstars, followed by millions of fans, should refrain from consuming alcohol on the silver screen. He said putting a ticker on a corner of the screen is not enough.

“Merely putting a ticker warning at some remote corner of the screen whenever there is smoking or drinking shown, is not enough anymore,” he said.

We feel the superstars who are followed by millions and who set an example in societal behaviour must not be shown drinking or smoking on screen unless the provocation for doing so is really strong
