CBI names Karnataka Minister K J George in police officer’s suicide; Case filed

After an year of investigation into the suicide of senior police officer, CBI yesterday named and charged Minister KJ George and two police officers with the abetment of suicide. The case was transferred to CBI after the state police probed into the death and gave them all clean chit.

The victim’s family approached the apex court and requested re-investigation of the suicide by CBI as the family observed that "there are certain startling facts in the case".

July last year, deputy superintendent of police, MK Ganapathy was found hanging dead from the ceiling of a lodge in the Kodagu district about 270 km from the capital of Bengaluru.

Before Ganapathy ended his life he opened up to the media that he was being constantly harassed by a minister, KJ George who is Karnataka's Bengaluru City Development Minister, the former home minister and two other police officers.

As per George’s guidelines, Ganapathy was being investigated for Karnataka's Bengaluru City Development Minister,

The SC had given three months time to CBI to investigate into the death and submit the report. BJP's chief ministerial face for next year's assembly elections , BS Yeddyurappa demanded Mr George's resignation,reports NDTV.
