Rajasthan police have arrested a ‘self styled cow vigilante’ who is suspected of murdering a Muslim man allegedly for transporting cows in Alwar district on Friday.

Ummar Khan along with two other friends, Tahir Muhammad and Tahir Khan, were transporting cows to Bharatpur in Rajasthan from Mewat in Haryana when they were stopped by a mob of cow vigilantes and assaulted.

32 year old Ummar died on the spot after he was shot, but his body was found from the railway track around 12 km from the Ramgarh police station in a battered condition. Two other escaped with minor injuries after they managed to run from the scene.

Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said that five cows, including a dead one, were fond in the vehicle. “Later a body was found, which a family claimed belonged to its member. Body was sent for post-mortem,” he added.

Maulana Hanif, vice president of Jamait-Ul- Rajasthan, said that the body was disfigured “to remove evidence. The family members recognised Ummar with the help of his slippers.
