Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) a prominent constituent of Sangh Parivar, has turned on the active mode in Gujart after more than decade. The organisation which is accused of masterminding the killings of Muslims during the 2002 carnage, has not been active in the state after the gruesome killings . But with elections round the corner and for the first time in decade BJP seems to be facing some challenges from the caste group the organisation which is known for its divisive practices is back in the state. On Sunday the organisation conducted a convention in Ahmedbad and launched Hindu first campaign.
Addressing a rally Praveen Thogadia leader of VHP put forwards a charter of demands to implement ‘Hindu first project’. Thogadia has ‘spelt’ out ways to ensure the ‘progress of Hindus’. This include “buy from Hindu, hire Hindu , and to make Hindustan totally free from ‘Jihadist terror’
According to them in every district at least one superintendent of police must be appointed to ensure the ‘safety of Hindus’ from Jihadists and other Muslim attacks. It also demanded free education for all Hindus upto graduation.
Another important thing the VHP demanded is to extradite all ‘ Bangla and Rohingya refugees within six months. It also asked the government to impose entry ban for Pakistanis.
The revival of VHP activities in Gujarat is seen as attempt by the Sangh parivar to address the challenges posed by different caste groups in the state. Patiadars, considered to be the main vote bank of the BJP, has turned against the saffron party after they staged protest demanding reservation for the community.
With Hindu first slogan the VHP and Sangh parivar is trying to polarise the electorates ahead of the polls
