Malayalam film fraternity have come joined their hands in expressing their solidarity towards the actress, who was harassed, abducted and abused by a gang in Kochi, on Sunday evening at Durbar Hall ground here at Kochi.
A large section of the Malayalam film industry was present with their support. Artistes and technicians from organisations like AMMA, FEFKA and MACTA were present during the solidarity meeting.
Malayalam super star Mammotty, who is behind the quick organisation of the meeting, said that the actress is a ‘symbol of resistance’ and the whole industry is rallying behind with the support. He also congratulated her for showing courage to tell the gruesome incident to the concerned authorities in taking further steps to bring the offenders under the law.
Actress Manju Warrier, who earlier visited the actress and wrote a note about it on her Facebook, said that is a conspiracy behind the incident and this should be probed and brought to the lights.
Meanwhile, AMMA president and MP, Innocent said that the incident is such a sad and it is happening in the state for the first. He also added that the whole Malayalam cinema is standing behind the actor. He also wanted police to take necessary steps in nabbing the culprits and thus by preventing any such incident repeating in the future.
Actors like Jayasuriya, Manoj K Jayan, Kalidasan, Siddique, Directors Ranjit, Kamal, Joshi, Major Ravi Lal, CPI(M) district secretary P Rajeev, MLAs like Hibi Eden, P T Thomas and many others were part of the meeting.
