Popular Telugu actor Ravi Teja’s brother, Bharath Raj was killed in a car accident on the Outer Ring Road late on Saturday.
The car skoda car driven by Bharath who is also an actor rammed into a truck that had broken down near Kothwalguda on the ring road. The 45 year old actor, had been at a hotel in Shamshabad till 9.30 p.m. before he left for Gachibowli. The accident happened around 10 p.m.
The Shamshabad police found empty vodka bottles in the rear seat of the car driven by him. But however, the police are yet to confirm if the victim had consumed alcohol before driving.
Viscera sample has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory to determine the presence of any intoxicating substances in his body, reports The Hindu.
“The area where the accident happened was well lit. But we have registered a case of causing death due to negligence on the truck driver,” said Sub-Inspector L. Ramesh Naik.
Though over speed could be a cause of the accident, the police do not rule out the influence of alcohol. Bharath was driving alone and it took the police and the locals around 45 minutes to extract his body from the damaged car.
Following the crash, the speedometer needle of the Skoda car reportedly froze at 150 kmph. According to reports, Bharath was driving at high speed on the extreme left in Lane 5, which is an emergency lane and is used by broken down vehicles.
Bharath Raj, who acted in many Telugu films, was in the past arrested on the charge of possession of drugs.
