In a humiliating incident, four obscene printed notices, asking women athletes to masturbate before practice, apparently signed by the ‘sports authority’, appeared in four places inside the women’s bathroom in Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium.

“This is to inform you that, please do fingering before practice,” a part of the message reads.

The obscene notices, pasted in four places in the restroom, were first noticed by a couple of athletes on Saturday evening. A few senior girls who saw it on Monday morning brought it to the notice of coaches and officials. A check on the other restrooms revealed that only the ladies’ restroom was targeted, the Times of India reported.

I was shocked to see the message, signed by ‘Sports Authority’. It is so disturbing and humiliating that somebody could enter the ladies’ restroom and spend time pasting those messages without being noticed

The department of youth empowerment and sports (DYES) had introduced identity cards for athletes and coaches, in a bid to check eve-teasing and theft, but that hasn't stopped people from walking into the stadium without valid entry permits.

The incident has deeply shaken the athletes, some of whom are now scared to use restrooms at the the stadium, TOI reports.

“It’s bad that we don't have enough female athletes. Such things will further discourage parents from allowing their children to take up sport,” Coach Pramila Aiyappa said.

DYES has started a probe on the incident, and sources say that it was most likely an insider job. The athletes also expressed their fear of being filmed without their knowledge, TOI said.
