Wife falsely implicates husband as IS agent over an argument; cops nail the youth for hours to unearth ‘terror’ link

Kerala police took a 25-year-old man into custody from Uttar Pradesh for suspected Islamic State (IS) links. The action followed a complaint by the youth’s wife, a native of Thrikkarippur in Kasaragod, with the Aluva police that her husband had been working for the outlawed outfit. However, a further probe has revealed that his wife had falsely lodged a complaint with the cops after an altercation with his husband.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the youth Ahlad aka Imran had married the woman about eight months ago. The woman had come to Aluva in search of Imran and found him staying in a lodge here. Soon an argument broke out between the two following which, Imran allegedly beat up the woman. In a fit of rage, she filed a false complaint on his terror links, officials said.

According to reports, a police team was soon despatched to Uttar Pradesh to trace Imran. And the team, with the help of the local police in UP, took Ahlad into custody on his arrival at the Muzaffarnagar railway station and brought him to Aluva late on Saturday.

The youth was subjected to intense interrogation by various State and Central agencies continuously for several hours. However, we could find no evidence linking him to any of the outlawed organisations

Meanwhile, the police opened a First Information Report (FIR) against him under IPC Sections 341, 294(B), 506 and 327 for assaulting the woman during an altercation a couple of days ago.
