VK Sasikala, who is serving her four year sentence in Bengaluru central prison is receiving a VVIP treatment, reveals an RTI reply. In her 31 days in jail, she was allowed to meet 27 visitors which is against jail rules.

As per the rules, a convict is permitted to meet only 2 a month.

According to an NDTV report, though she was denied many of things she asked for, including home made food, cot, mattress, European closet and attached bathroom, she was allowed to meet as many as people she wanted.

According to RTI activist, Narsimha Murthy, she was allowed to meet her visitors even after 5 pm, while jail rules permit meeting visitors between 11 am to 5 pm.

Information obtained by Narsimha Murthy said AIADMK leaders came mainly to visit her in jail, including Deputy Speaker Thambidorai and her nephew TTV Dinakaran.

Dinakaran, who is contesting in the upcoming by-poll in Chennai's RK Nagar constituency met her twice.

It is believed that he discussed the party's strategy with Sasikala in these two meeting. Sasikala is still heading the party and controlling it, though she was put behind the bars.

Earlier, she had requested to be provided with the class 1 cell citing health issues.

However, her request for the jail that comes with a private TV, meals including non-vegetarian dishes and home-cooked was turned down by the jail authority.
