In a first of its kind in Kerala, a group of RSS-BJP workers threatened a Christian family in Ernakulam district of the state for allegedly slaughtering a cow.
The incident took place at Karakunnu village of Karamaloor panchayat, Ernakulam. The group of cow vigilantes reached house of Kallarakkal Jose after receiving information that he had slaughtered a cow at his residence.
The group threatened Jose and his family of death for the alleged slaughtering. Reports said they threw mud on the meat kept inside his house and asked him to bury it.
RSS workers have also threatened his neighbours who reached the spot, saying that they will not spare those slaughter cow in the region.
Confirming the report, Aluva West Sub Iinspector Anil Kumar told SouthLive a probe has begun into the case.
"We have received a complaint from the family of Jose regarding death threat for slaughtering cow. According to the statement of the victim, the group has asked him to not consume the cow meat. Police has begun looking into it", he said.
Jose, meanwhile, told media that he decided to slaughter his three-year-old cow after he got confirmation from veterinary doctors that it will never deliver.
According to reports, he refused to complain about the incident to the police as he was scared of Sangh activists' threat.
