At a time lynchings in the name of cow protection goes unabated in the country, here in Thrissur district of Kerala Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) has jointly started a co-operative society to sell meat that includes bovine and fish reported the Malayalam daily Deshabhimani on Tuesday.
According to the news report, the Co-operative society has been formed under the aegis of BJP district president A Nagesh, secretary T S Ullas Babu and BMS district secretary P V Subramanian. The Society will function in the sectors of procuring meat and fish, its treatment and trade. They have already started an office for the purpose near to Thiruvampady temple here in the city centre.
The bylaw of the cooperative society stress the importance of nurturing cattle for meat, its sale to the public both in wholesale and retail scheme, a supermarket to sell meat-related food materials. Besides all, they are also planning to start a cold storage facility to keep the meat and fish fresh.
The meat remains after treatment will be made to fertilizers and its sale also on their list. They also planning to make value added food materials from the meat, fish and egg. They have also planning to start a mobile store in the regard of selling meat and fish and other food materials. The society is also aiming to start a restaurant chain in the district. During the time of festival season, the society aims at doubling their sales by providing meat and meat related food items to the public.
The Cattle Meat Manufacturing Co-operative society is formed with A Nagesh as the chief promoter while many of the BJP and RSS leaders are in the administrative committee which overlooks the daily functioning of it. They have already elected a core committee with permission of co-operative registrar and elected Nagesh as president and T S Ullas Babu as vice-president.
However, the hasty new move of the district BJP leadership has come at a time when 23 people belonging to Muslim and minority castes were being lynched to death by the Hindu fundamentalists owing allegiance in India recently in the the name of cow. The new move is however dubbed as the greed of the BJP district leadership to make money.
