DIG Roopa exposes Sasikala leaving jail premises with her relative Ilavarasi

Though there rose reports of Sasikala receiving VIP treatment in Parappana Agrahara central prison where she was lodged in a corruption case, latest video footage reveal AIADMK interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala and her relative Ilavarasi walking into the jail premises from the main gate in civilian clothes. The video footage has been handed over to Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Karnataka police for further investigation.

Earlier in July a report by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (Prisons) D. Roopa has asserted that a bribe worth Rs. 2 crore was given to the prison officials, including the Director General (Prisons) in order to avail special facilities for Sasikala. Roopa handed over the video footage to the ACB to clarify if the outing granted to Sasikala was in the knowledge of the top officials.

After being summoned by the ACB, the IPS officer, had given details of her reports to then DGP of Prisons H.N. Sathyanarayana Rao who retired the day she was summoned, submitted 74 enclosures as evidence to substantiate her charge, reports The Hindu.

Clarifying her stand of VIP treatment to Sasikala, Roopa submitted her version of the facts in writing along with photographs and video footages.

After the Sasikala scam was reported, Roopa was transferred to Traffic and Safety wing as a punishment.
