Suspected case of Blue Whale Challenge: Woman in Chennai jump from 7th floor

In a case doubted to be the aftermath of Blue Whale Challenge, a Chennai girl attempts to kill herself by jumping off the 7th floor of a high-rise apartment complex in Virugambakkam on Monday evening. 24 year old J Niveditha survived the fall as she fell over a parked car and has been lucky to have only a ruptured backbone.

The inmates of the apartment suspect the girl to be addicted to the online game, ‘Blue Whale Challenge’ which has claimed the lives of many teenagers. However, the family of the girl rule out the suspicion and the police are waiting the recovery of the girl to get her statement.

Niveditha is a second year MCA (master of computer applications) student at a private college and lives with her family at a seventh floor apartment in the Jains West Minster apartment complex on Arunachalam road in Virugambakkam.

Investigating officers added that the girl jumped off the 7th floor on Monday night, after she opened the grille gate in the balcony of her apartment. Hearing the loud thud, security and apartment inmates rushed to the spot. Parents do not know the reason why their daughter tried to kill herself.
