As far as now, taking into account the post mortem report, along with CCTV footage, the probe conducted by Special Investigating Team submitted the statement that Mishel committed suicide by throwing herself into the Vembanad lake.
As per the report submitted to Kerala High Court, MIshel was spotted doing her prayers at St. Anthony’s Church, Kaloor on March 5, from where she left at 6.15 p.m. and travelled all the way to the Vallarpadam bridge, from where around 8 p.m. she jumped in to the waters.
According to the post mortem report there was no injury on her body, no sign of rape, and the girl died due to drowning, reports The Hindu.
Her alleged lover, Cronin was arrested on charges of driving Mishel to kill herself but later released on bail. Cronin was traced from the phone messages and calls made from Mishel’s phone. Cronin confessed that he had taken Mishel to various places without the knowledge of her parents or the hostel warden where she resided.
While investigation was underway, Mishel’s family strongly believed their daughter would not commit suicide and it was a clear case of murder. Mishel’s father petitioned to the High Court to know the reality, as per which SIT submitted their final report.
