The children on the island of Langeoog, Germany, had a pleasant morning on Thursday with their island coast is aplenty with different coloured plastic eggs and toys. A day before, on Wednesday, Storm Axel has struck the northern coast of Germany along with its brought widespread flooding and property damage. Tens of thousands of plastic eggs with toys inside washed up on the island near the Dutch border.
The toys had come from a freighter as it lost several of its containers when it was tossed about in the storm, including the one filled with plastic eggs containing small toy animals.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of the Island, Uwe Garrels, bemoaned the tons of plastic bags that washed up the shore but have said the local kindergartners to gather as many of the eggs as they wanted.
Mayor also had warned those to blame this action are allowed to come over to the island and take the ownership of the toys. Besides the toys, there were also “untold amounts of plastic bags and other packaging materials” washing up on shore.
