School going kids hate to read and write and are the most interested in playing all day long. But for this 4 year old, Daliyah Marie Arana, reading is a pleasure. Daliyah is a literal bookworm! Before turning 5, she has completed reading 1,000 books.
Her mother, Haleema Arana, when she was pregnant with Daliyah used to read stories to her elder brother and sister. Daliyah grew up around words as she used to listen to her brother reading out loud, the chapters from the books he read. By one and half years she could recognise the words her mother read out to her.
When she was of the age 2 years and 11 months, she read her first book on her own. Now she being 4 years old has completed reading 1,000 books.
With this record she even challenged Georgia 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, which awards children who completes reading 1,000 books before the first day of kindergarten.
Daliyah’s mother counted the numbers of books she read, and when she was about three years old, she had likely read about 1,000 books and aims to reach 1,500 before she enters kindergarten next year, as reported by Independent.
Daliyah is skilled in reading and is very passionate about literature. Impressed by her passion, the leader of the Nation’s Library, Carla Hayden hosted Daliyah at the Library of Congress as ‘Librarian for the day’ granting her wish to be a librarian. Library is not a new thing for the child prodigy. In fact, she has her own library card and is also a regular visitor at Hall County Library in Gainesville, Florida. According to Daliyah’s mother, Library of Congress is her most favourite library in the world.

Her mother also uploads her daughter’s videos on social media to encourage parents to help children develop their reading habits.
