A new trend rises in the world when stereotypes around menstruation is slowly being broken down by activists and feminists who click images of menstruating, living a normal life while bleeding below and post online along with their stories which at times receive backlashes for being very vocal on such a taboo topic.
Such is an incident of a 5 year old boy who surprised his family with a picture. It is not his drawing skills that gained the internet’s attention but his thinking beyond the box. He drew a picture of his menstruating mother and his dad with only colour pencils.
Julian, from New South Wales, after completing his drawing handed over the portrait to his mother who was surprised to see only a slight area covered in red colour. Intrigued by this he asked his son what it was, for which without any hesitation he replied, “That’s your period.” The reply not only shocked her but made her proud of her little son.
For a split second she could not decide whether to be proud or embarrassed by the portrait of herself. After she posted the image on her Facebook account, most netizens called her son a ‘smart kid’.
Getting inspired by such a parental stories, parents from all over the world are sharing their stories which at a time embarrassed them now is being tagged to be proud moment.
