Rare disease: Bloated, unbearable pain expands the stomach of this Assamese man to 59 inch

Bloating of stomach makes life hard for any common man. If it is accompanied by excruciating pain, daily life becomes unbearable! Such is the case of a man hailing from Assam whose life was became fatal due to a bloated stomach which weighs around 10kg.

Bikash Hazarika from Assam weighs only 61 kg but his stomach would weigh around 10 kg with unbearable pain which leaves him not able to walk around. Suffering from a rare disease, congestive hepatomegaly, the 21-year-old has been sleeping in a seated position for one and a half hours at a time since the past five years.

He has lost all hopes in life and feels even getting a treatment is not going to help him regain his old healthy self. He says he feels himself giving in to the slow death as the daily struggles increase with the pain not giving up.

The condition Hazarika suffers from is caused due to heart failure which causes blood to be backed up in the liver. A surgery could save him but Hazarika’s father being a contractual labour cannot afford the procedure costing more than Rs 5 lakh.

The disease earlier ignored as a minor infection by a local doctor, has sucked up all confidence and life out of Hazarika, whose family sold their only house for his medicines.
